Standard Chartered Predicts Bitcoin to Reach $200,000 by End of 2025

Standard Chartered has reaffirmed its bullish outlook on Bitcoin, projecting the cryptocurrency to reach $200,000 by the end of 2025. This forecast is underpinned by several factors, including strategic asset reallocation away from U.S. securities, robust accumulation by large investors, and increasing inflows into Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Geoffrey Kendrick, the bank's head of digital assets research, also anticipates Bitcoin hitting $120,000 by mid-2025, setting the stage for further gains in the latter half of the year.

The bank's analysis suggests that Bitcoin's decentralized nature positions it as a more effective hedge against financial system risks compared to traditional assets like gold. Kendrick notes that the U.S. Treasury term premium, closely correlated with Bitcoin's price, is at a 12-year high, indicating a shift in investor sentiment. Additionally, ETF flows suggest a "safe-haven reallocation from gold into BTC," reinforcing the narrative of Bitcoin as a digital store of value.

Looking beyond 2025, Standard Chartered envisions a continued upward trajectory for Bitcoin, with price targets of $300,000 in 2026, $400,000 in 2027, and $500,000 by 2028. These projections are contingent upon sustained institutional adoption, favorable macroeconomic conditions, and the expansion of Bitcoin ETFs. While acknowledging the inherent volatility of the cryptocurrency market, the bank's long-term outlook underscores a growing confidence in Bitcoin's role within the global financial system.
